Architectural tour by an architect- Franck Lloyd Wright - 8 hours

The great master architect Frank Lloyd Wright left part of his legacy in Los Angeles.

In this tour we will see different types of architecture, from houses to shopping malls like the one Wright designed in the 1950s on Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills. We will see the Hollyhock House in Hollywood, in its setting in Barnsdall Park. The tour will continue with a visit to “Los Feliz” where, in addition to the Griffith Observatory, we can see the city from above, and which is also known for the James Dean movie “Rebel Without a Cause”. We will see three of Wright’s son’s houses: “Jaws” (Sowden), the “Samuels-Navarro” house and the Taggart house. Also, still in Los Feliz, we will visit the exterior of Charles Enis’ house, which is being renovated, and which is destined to appear in the movie “Blade Runner”. The tour will continue through the Hollywood Hills and we will visit the exterior of Samuel Freeman’s house and John Storer’s house.

Los Angeles is full of diverse architectural styles, including historic buildings and modern architecture. One of the key spots that’s ideal for a walking tour in a city where cars are omnipresent is the financial center—also known as Downtown. Our architect guide will lead you on a tour of Downtown LA that includes everything from historic buildings such as hotels, offices and apartments to interesting malls with diverse architectural styles. You’ll see Los Angeles’ main institutions of art and music, sports hall, gleaming skyscrapers and multinational corporations.

You’ll also gaze upon Victorian houses in Angelino Heights, LA’s first suburb, as well as impressive government buildings like the City Council. Next, we’ll walk through Little Tokyo Historic District, a pristine district that represents the heart of North America’s largest Japanese-American population and pass by festive Chinatown with Pagoda-style buildings and red lanterns. Last but not least, we’ll stop by the ongoing Los Angeles Grand Avenue Project, where our architect guide will explain the massive construction project to convert the area to the style of the Champs Elysees in Paris. The first project was the 12-acre Grand Park renovation completed in 2012. Currently, they’re constructing a two-tower complex designed by Frank Gehry on the southeast corner of Grand Avenue and 1st Street.

Cancellation Policy for the public tour: If you send us a cancellation request more than 7 days before the day of your tour, a 50% refund will be given. If you send us a cancellation request less than 7 days before the day of your tour, no refund will be given.

Request to reschedule your tour: All requests to reschedule your tour must be made in writing and sent to us via email more than 7 days prior to your tour or activity. There are no exceptions. Without an email, we will not be able to reschedule your tour.

Videos and pictures: We reserve the right to record video footage and photographies in connection with future promotional and publicity for MAD Tours and Events on social media and website.

Belongings: Mad Tours and Events is not responsible for any personal items which are lost, stolen or left behind.

Passenger Voucher check-in Instructions: On the day of tour or activity, please arrive 15 minutes early to the tour departure point at the indicated address sent with your confirmation.

Taxes & Booking fees: They are not included in the rate. Those fees will be indicated once you start the booking reservation process. 

No show: Please note that if you do not show up on the day of your tour or activity, your tour is forfeited.
