Greenwich Village e o Tour da Comunidade LGBTQ+

Take this fun and informative tour to learn the history of the LGBTQ community in NYC! On this tour of Greenwich Village, we’ll visit historic sites where revolutions began, riots were started and history was made. Explore the commonalities of the LGBTQ generations who have lived in New York City and shared their stories. You’ll learn about queer activists and the major political and social movements that have shaped the LGBTQ community over time. On this tour, you’ll pass by the historic Stonewall Inn, a gay tavern and bar where the Stonewall riots of 1969 occurred. Most people considered that violent incident to be the key event that led to the gay liberation movement and today’s ongoing struggle for gay rights across the United States. The surrounding area is designated as the Stonewall National Monument. We’ll also stop by Christopher Park, the New York AIDS Memorial and the LGBT Community Center.

Williamsburg: Onde o Hipster Encontra o Hasídico

Williamsburg is a unique enclave. This neighborhood has been taken over by artists and hipsters alike. With its rich architecture, artistic reputation, and vibrant music scene, this neighborhood is a magnet for anyone looking for a trendy address.  Williamsburg is also home to a large Hasidic Jewish community. After World War II, various European populations flocked to Brooklyn as refugees. Among them were Hasidic Jews who were fleeing persecution in Germany and other countries. They’re immediately recognizable due to their tall hats and long beards and sideburns worn by the men and long dresses worn by the women.  According to Urban Dictionary, “North Williamsburg (near the L train) is generally filled with trustafarians, overpriced bars, and vintage clothing stores, where South Williamsburg (near the JMZ train) is still home to a large Hasidic and Hispanic population.” It’s fascinating to witness how these two populations coexist today in a new life in Williamsburg. This educational tour will transport you to another world and time in our history.

Wall Street e o Memorial do 11 de Setembro

Lower Manhattan is home to iconic landmarks including the Financial District and Wall Street, the world’s most famous stock exchange, as well as Trinity Church and its cemetery, where great figures like founding father Alexander Hamilton are buried. Your friendly guide will be happy to tell you all sorts of stories about the stops along the way and to insightfully answer your questions.

The south of Manhattan is also known for the enormous bronze “Charging Bull” sculpture that depicts the symbol of aggressive financial optimism and prosperity and the “Fearless Girl,” a bronze sculpture installed in 2017 to promote female empowerment. This tour gives you the chance to walk through the narrow streets of this neighborhood and learn first-hand about the beginnings of US history.

We’ll make a stop at Federal Hall, where George Washington made his first acceptance speech for the presidency and St. Paul’s Chapel where he attended Mass. Then we’ll show you the magnificent Wall Trade Center Station, featuring the Oculus, an architectural marvel.

It’s a customary gesture of respect and humanity to make a contribution to the 9/11 Memorial. Stand before the dizzying One World Trade Center tower, a most spectacular observatory. To top off this tour in the Winter Garden, you’ll enjoy a view of the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty!

Tour de Graffiti em Bushwick e Williamsburg

Bushwick is a working-class neighborhood in northern Brooklyn. The town was first founded by the Dutch in the 17th century. In the 19th century, German immigrants moved into the area, followed by Italian-Americans in the 20th century. By the late 20th century, the neighborhood was predominantly Hispanic. In recent years, the Bushwick neighborhood has transformed into an epicenter of graffiti artists. Artists from all over the world come here to leave their print, even though street art is ephemeral!

Let’s go on a walk in Brooklyn and discover the captivating world of taggers and street artists. You’ll witness the most incredible murals in New York City while learning about contemporary urban artists and their lifestyles, styles and techniques.

Brooklyn is teeming with creative graffiti artists. The Bushwick Collective is home to a stunning open-air gallery featuring street art from local and international artists. Joe Ficalora founded the collective in 2011. He used street art to help heal and deal with the deaths of his parents and to transform the neighborhood of Bushwick with vivid, meaningful street art.

We’ll finish the tour in Williamsburg to explore this trendy community and its lively nightlife. This Brooklyn neighborhood is home to communities of Italians, Jews, Latinos, Poles—and plenty of hipsters of all shapes and sizes.

Lower East Side e Essex Market

Manhattan’s Lower East Side (LES) has a reputation for being ahead of the curve. Feisty and vibrant, the LES takes the nickname “the city that never sleeps” as a challenge—and its music venues, bars and restaurants never fail to live up to it. The neighborhood retains its Jewish heritage with the LES Tenement Museum on Orchard Street, old-world fabric stores, and traditional delis like Katz’s where the famous scene from the movie “When Harry Met Sally” was shot.

Foodies will delight in a visit to the Essex Market. It has been a staple of the LES since 1818, when it began as a covered market on Grand Street between Essex and Ludlow streets. For over 200 years, locals and visitors have gathered to buy goods from vendors hawking meat, fish, cheese, produce and other specialty foods. The Essex Market vendors all have colorful stories and distinctive personalities that add flavor to their delicious offerings. They give a true neighborhood feel to this historic public market.

Tour Guiado em SoHo, Little Italy e Chinatown

Discover three amazing neighborhoods with this immersion into the melting pot of New York!

SoHo
SoHo is named for its geographical location—SOuth of HOuston Street. (Pro tip: In NYC, Houston is pronounced “How-sten,” rather than “Hyoo-ston.”) Its vast buildings house hip studios and lofts. SoHo’s architectural beauty made it a National Historic Landmark in 1973 and earned it a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. SoHo is bursting with designer boutiques alongside clothing, jewelry, home décor, and textile giants. SoHo is without a doubt an incredible New York shopping destination to experience. Explore its picturesque cobblestone streets on this memorable tour.

Little Italy
There was a time when Manhattan’s Little Italy lived up to its name. Its noisy streets were full of Italian-run shops, restaurants and grocery stores. Little Italy today has shrunk a bit, but the neighborhood still retains its charm and good humor. Not to be missed is the Feast of San Gennaro, the patron saint of Naples. From a small single-day celebration in 1926, the event has grown into a marvelous 11-day festival every September.

Chinatown
Like most of NYC, Chinatown is bustling with activity and constantly on the move. Between seeing the signs in Chinese and hearing the inhabitants speak Cantonese and Mandarin on the streets, the change of scenery is total! Many residents don’t speak English and rarely venture beyond the “borders” of Manhattan’s Chinatown. This densely populated neighborhood attracts foodies and travelers to its loads of Chinese restaurants, souvenir shops, bubble tea cafes, and markets. You’ll catch a glimpse of locals in Columbus Park doing tai chi or playing chess and mahjong.

Bronx Little Italy

Since its founding, the Belmont section of the Bronx—affectionately known as “Little Italy”—has played a vital role in the development of the borough and the city. The Italian immigrants who moved to this Manhattan neighborhood in the late 19th century brought their customs, food and language. To this day, Little Italy’s streets are lined with quaint Italian restaurants with red-and-white checkered tablecloths.

According to Nova Iorque magazine, “Once, Little Italy was like an insular Neapolitan village re-created on these shores, with its own language, customs, and financial and cultural institutions.” It’s the home of the fictional Corleone crime family depicted in the three “Godfather” films. In “The Sopranos” finale, a character walks down a block and finds himself in Chinatown, which conveys how Little Italy has shrunk.

Arthur Avenue in the heart of Little Italy features world-class restaurants, top-notch artisanal food stores and specialty stores carrying handmade local and imported items. A charming old-world atmosphere emanates from the generations of Italian families who continue to give this neighborhood a welcoming small-town feel. It’s an absolute must to visit this vibrant community while you’re in NYC!

Descubra os Segredos e a Vida de Washington Heights

Take one of our most popular tours to discover one of Manhattan’s Latino hub on the far north side of Manhattan, including the neighborhoods of Inwood and Washington Heights.

We will see George Washington Headquarters during the Battle of Harlem and where Lin Manuel Miranda wrote his award-winning play “Hamilton”. We will take you to the various locations of his 2021 blockbuster film “In the Heights” starring Lin Manuel-Miranda and the 174th Street block party. We’ll even stop in at the bodega from the movie for a special virgin margarita tasting! While strolling down our streets and sampling some of the neighborhood’s delish Dominican specialties, you will discover the cuisine influences with pastelitos and more.

Let’s not forget that Malcolm X was assassinated in the area, in 1965, he was one of the pillars of the Civil Rights movement.  We’ll continue walking by the United Palace which functions both as a spiritual center, and a non-profit performing arts center, between historic architecture, amazing views with a gorgeous park that’s a fusion of natural and highly landscaped terrain nestled amid tranquil wooded slope, this area has his feet etched in the past with battles, castles and the first complex built for the middle class in a lush garden and views on the New Jersey Palisade. You will discover a very rich area little known to tourists!

Small businesses flourish in this area, we will pass by the numerous hairdressers, restaurants, juice carts and street vendors, and the very important bodegas. If you visit in the afternoon, you can stay and party in the many bars and restaurants at the famous Dyckman street, beware you might be dancing merengue or bachata!

We’ll explore this colorful ethnic neighborhood that’s off the beaten path! It transports you to another world with its vivacious people, lively music, and multicultural restaurants, interesting subway tunnels filled with graffiti. This is also the story of immigrants, Germans, Jewish, Polish, and Dominicans! You will discover what a community feels like full of joy.

If you have time and did not watch the movie yet < In the Heights >, we recommend you do so before this tour :-).
