GREENWICH VILLAGE AND THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY TOUR

Take this fun and informative tour to learn the history of the LGBTQ community in NYC! On this tour of Greenwich Village, we’ll visit historic sites where revolutions began, riots were started and history was made. Explore the commonalities of the LGBTQ generations who have lived in New York City and shared their stories. You’ll learn about queer activists and the major political and social movements that have shaped the LGBTQ community over time. On this tour, you’ll pass by the historic Stonewall Inn, a gay tavern and bar where the Stonewall riots of 1969 occurred. Most people considered that violent incident to be the key event that led to the gay liberation movement and today’s ongoing struggle for gay rights across the United States. The surrounding area is designated as the Stonewall National Monument. We’ll also stop by Christopher Park, the New York AIDS Memorial and the LGBT Community Center.
